Noise is an undesired consequence of aviation. It can lead to a handful of negative consequences, particularly affecting those who live and work in the vicinity of the airport. Knowing that sound generation from aircraft leads to disturbances to the population, and the consequences of aircraft noise if not controlled, build an argument for the importance of managing and mitigating aircraft noise.

Aircraft noise can be managed in several ways. There are several economic approaches that can be utilized in numerous ways as solutions to manage and mitigate the impact of noise from airport practices.

This paper sets out to explain aircraft noise and methods of measurement for non experts, followed by an exploration of economic strategies to manage and mitigate noise in further depth and give an overview of how different European airports manage and mitigate noise.
